Has it died?

Post by Hurricane » Jan Wed 14, 2009 9:36 pm

Has this place died?
I don't recall it being so quite.

I miss the active Forum of a few years ago....
with all the human interest topics and the debated *discussions*.
I even miss the fights in the "Ladies" Room" (I don't believe I said that), at least, it was entertaining.
But you new folks won't know about those times, unless you were lurkers for awhile.

Yeah, pretty much.

I miss Mugs and someone and Bushit (oh, wait a sec . . . :)) and Stead and WW and, no kidding, even the EJ that used to be here (not the same EJ anymore), and OG and . . . that guy that used to post pictures of me in Shirley Temple outfits when I was 12, and . . .

I miss having people/friends here when I was sitting in the hospital with my baby at 3 a.m., the people/friends that were here when I was sitting at home wondering if my DH was gonna make it through the night . . .

I don't miss the intrusion on my personal/professional life and posting of such that certain tea lovers would make in order to push Her/his agenda . . . I don't miss that one bit.

I miss the honest caring that came when one of us needed help, and the ability of members to pull together to help. There is still an underground network of the oldtimers there, but it seems to be waning. Be assured -- "my-Humarock-at-the -end-of-Plymouth-St.-friend-who- cared-for-my-baby-so-many-times-at-CH -- you are in my thoughts and prayers daily. ;)

Yeah, it's not the same at all.

As always, the forum is what it is, and there's no way to determine why. It has nothing to do with the methods of administration. People come, people go, lives change. Some people who were once very active on the forum might have been that way because they were working at a job that required minimal work on their part, and the forum was a welcome diversion. These people might have since changed to a more demanding (and/or interesting) job.

A lot of people simply get burnt out. The discussions become repetitive and you know exactly what most of the regulars are going to have to say once a topic is brought up.

But ultimately, new people will come in, new friendships will be formed, and it will again be a very busy place.

thats so accurate pat! and sal, i have been thinking to myself so often this past year, why has the forum been so quiet.... its funny that you brought it up... i have more free time now than i've ever had, but i feel like i don't have as much to contribute, or things have been getting a little stale here.... i'm sure it will turn over in time, and i still visit daily, it's just that now i mostly lurk....

To be honest, I haven't been on as much myself but I am here every evening (except for my days off).
But when I get home, I think I have a lot of reading to catch up on here but find that there isn't much.

Well, my life sure has changed in the past couple of years, so I guess the Forum can change , too.
As pat mentioned, it will pick up again.

Thank goodness for Wellbutin....I am so much more focused. Although I have to admit Hurricane, due to my split personality,I seem to have so much less "time" for the real self.

I still check in every few days.... I am guilty of not contributing but I enjoy lurking.

A few people had fun teasing me for starting this thread on the 14th with my question and then 5 days later the Forum developed problems and died for a short while.
I promise not to be a jinx again by asking such a question in the future.

Funny, but after reading about Jerry the Dog, I have changed my mind. The Forum hasn't died, just changed, and remains a great place for people to help others.

The fact that the "other" forum linked the technical difficulties to this thread is hilarious, but once again, "The Forum" helped others get through the night with their paranoid schizo personalities intact, and therefore, helped once again!

I was referring to how quite things were here.
But the Marshfield Forum folks are always here to help others. :)

I saw the comment about this thread tonight on the other Forum.
I chuckled, too ... especially when there was a 5 day difference between the two.

No matter what ... this is still a great place.

BTW, Pat ... did you win the Megabucks tonight?

It is quiet here...
Is everyone gone to a different climate?
I don't think I can go away but my mind keeps going to the Caribbean... this cold weather and snow is torturous.
OH, how I wish I could get out and walk...
